Drive for Kindway
Contribute to your community and share good moments along the way.
We are always looking for people who want to drive, be companions in a healthcare setting, and do patient transfers. If you are a compassionate and caring person who likes to help people going through health challenges with the same care and attention you would give your dearest friend or family member, we would like to talk. Patient transfer is a great way to stay active and contribute to your community.
Giving back
Kindway drivers enjoy the benefits of rewarding work and community connection.
- help the healthcare system more efficiently allocate resources and free up hospital beds while reducing preventable emergency room visits and early admission to assisted living facilities.
- reduce loneliness and create an environment in which both you and your client look forward to seeing each other.
- help older people who live at home alone maintain a positive social connection and feel the resulting motivational spark of life that leads to better health and happy days.

What types of vehicles do your drivers operate?
Our drivers operate a fleet of well-maintained vehicles specifically equipped for patient transfers. This includes wheelchair-accessible mini vans, box trucks, and potentially other specialized vehicles depending on the needs and desires of our clients. All vehicles are regularly inspected for safety and comfort.
What are the typical working hours and shift patterns?
Driver schedules can vary depending on the demands of our services. We typically offer a mix of full-time and part-time positions, and shifts may include days, evenings, weekends, and potentially some overnight on-call rotations. We strive to provide drivers with as much notice as possible regarding their schedules. Specific shift availability will be discussed during the interview process.
What kind of training do you provide to new drivers?
We provide comprehensive training to all new drivers and ongoing training and oversight to existing drivers to ensure they are well-prepared to safely and professionally transport our clients. This typically includes orientation on company policies and procedures, vehicle operation and maintenance, client handling and transfer techniques, safety protocols, communication procedures, and customer service skills. Depending on your prior experience and qualifications, additional specialized training may also be provided.
What qualifications and certifications are required to become a patient transfer driver?
To be a patient transfer driver with Kindway, you need a valid class 4-16 Nova Scotia driver’s license with a clean driving record, First Aid and CPR, a Vulnerable Sector Check, and to demonstrate an advanced level of defensive driving. Depending on the types of transfers you’ll be performing, you may also learn and consistently high level of skill in a variety of patient transfer techniques, and other medical and safety-related processes and procedures.
